Eco-Friendly Tenby is an organisation that wants to encourage people to engage with and support their environment.
There is so much involved in the environment, it is hard to know where to start. We have broken it down into seven areas to explore, which are water usage and waste, energy usage, air waste materials usage and waste.
We have seven people to help –
Anne – Biodiversity, Reuse, Repair.

Anne is Tenby Town Council Community Engagement Officer and helps organise events and projects around Tenby…
I have lived in Tenby for nearly 30 years and love to be able to play my part in helping to create a sustainable, empowered, resilient and creative community.
Hannah – Waste to land (e.g. recycling, beach cleans)

Hannah Arentz grew up on a farm by the beach locally, appreciative of the wonderful countryside and coast here and aware of the need to protect and conserve these things. An ex-teacher, now a local business owner, I lived abroad for some time but have been ‘home’ in Tenby for 15 years now. I am involved with Tenby Community Fridge helping to reduce food waste as well as with Ecofriendly Tenby working to keep our local environment in balance with the needs of the local, tourist oriented economy.
Cathy – Materials Usage (eg. reducing packaging)

Cathy in The Little Pantry has been trading in Tenby Market for over 7 years selling organic produce and groceries.
We cannot claim to be plastic free but we try to be a sustainable business. We encourage people to bring their own containers so you can refill your empties. We feel that using less or no packaging should be the norm and over the years have saved thousands of bottles and packaging from potentially becoming landfill.
We may be able to help other businesses and individuals who are trying to cut down on their plastic usage.
Gary – Energy Usage and Waste to Air (eg. pollution)

Gary Tapley is a committed environmentalist, who started by writing environmental theme songs in a band in the ’90’s, wrote an environmental awareness course that was delivered nationally to over two thousand people, stood for the Green Party in the 2000 election, and now as part of his business, offers accredited environmental management courses.
Julie – Materials eg recycling and reuse
Duncan – Water
Emma – biodiversity
Lots of things are happening to help Tenby become more sustainable.

Tenby Community Edible Garden
This is for the whole community to enjoy, and for anyone who would like to , to help to look after it. Just head along to Sutton St, and have a look…

Tenby Community Fridge
This is based in The Old Chapel on Lower Frog St and is open whenever the community cafe is, generally 11 – 3pm Tuesday to Saturday each week.
Volunteers help to run it and to collect surplus food from local supermarkets that is about to go in the skip, so that we can all pop in and see if there is anything we can help to rescue and use.

Tenby Repair Cafe
This happens on the second Saturday of each month from 2 – 4pm in Augustus Place Community Hall.
We have enthusiastic and skilled sewers able to repair most things while you wait.
We are looking for volunteers able to help people with their broken gadgets and appliances, even if it is just to confirm that they are beyond repair.

Tenby No Throw Party Kit
This can be borrowed from Augustus Place Community Hall for a small fee whenever you are having a party. There is enough plates, bowls and beakers for 30 place settings, plus tablecloths etc.

Bee-Friendly Tenby
Tenby has recently achieved Bee Friendly status for working towards having more planting which is beneficial for pollinators and generally encouraging wildlife.
